According to John Sides at the Monkey Cage, how voters see the world has more to do with their partisan identification than it does their actual material circumstances. It is, of course, possible that Rich republicans are all doing worse than the year before, and that their circumstances are plummeting faster than any other group, but from what we know about class in America, it is extremely unlikely. That said, I would love to see a panel study confirming this.
Democrats and Republicans strikingly different perceptions of their finances no matter what their income is. In fact, party is so significant that the wealthiest Republicans actually have slightly lower evaluations of their personal finances than the poorest Democrats. [link]
